Horseback Riding Vacations in Montana
Our world is always changing, but not "as much" here at Bear Creek Ranch! We do have some limited wi-fi acces s but no cell phone service. How do you like that? You may see elk or deer, or even an occasional bear, on the property from your cabin window. And you will see a bunch of horses! "Horses are a huge part of our identity, our being, our lives." We really hope you can join us in that enjoyment, whether it be on a day long ride, cattle drive, or simply care for them in our barn or corral.
"We do everything that we can to maintain the authentic Western way of life, even in the ever-changing, fast-paced world of the present. When life slows down, you slow down - cell phones are forgotten. The sky is bigger, the plains more vast, the mountains are higher and the air is more clear. And you'll appreciate it all!"
We'll take care of the details - you can just show up and enjoy yourself. When you arrive at the ranch for your Montana horseback riding adventure, you will feel welcome and right at home. We offer full day horseback rides and do so in small groups and have four week long horseback riding adventures, 'Riding the Four Winds' and 'Off the Beaten Path' in addition to cattle drives in the Fall and Spring, something for horseback riders of all levels! Those week long trips are described if you click on them below. Love to have you join us.
Each horseback riding vacation event specializes in something different but they all have adventure and fun in common. These horseback vacations are like nothing else you have ever experienced and you will have amazing memories and stories to take home with you. Along with learned knowledge and a new found appreciation for the western way of life!

Some things to think about
I suspect you've given alot of thought to the trip you're thinking about making out here. That's a good thing! I've been giving alot of thought to you as well, particularly over the past few years. My years as an outfitter in the horse adventure business, and on a personal level as well, have been a work in progress, and not close to finished, even now. Oh, I wish I could tell you the stories, mostly good, and some not so good, of my experiences, in and out of the saddle. I guess I'm thinking most about the horses I've known, those that I've owned, those that I've loved, and so many others that have served so many others so well. Horses have been a huge part of my life and I owe them all a real debt of gratitude, those that aren't with me anymore, and those that are.
As you contemplate your trip on horseback with us keep a few things in mind, if you don't mind. You're going to be riding on the back of one heckuva an animal. You'll be putting on more than a few miles in a wide variety of country, and you'll be asking a whole lot from that critter that's under your legs. I have to remind myself as well, more than you know, of the privilege it is to be riding such a fine animal. Your horse will do about anything you ask of it so ask kindly. Well, we'll go over that once you get here but in the meantime give that some thought. Get in shape, do some riding, lose some weight if you must, and get ready for what I hope becomes the ride of your life.
Alright, getting down to the real deal as they say, here's a few specifics to give some attention to related to preparation, your expectations of the adventure you're about to have at Bear Creek Ranch, and the expectations we have of that same trip! I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest very firmly that you find the time and place to do some riding before you arrive. If you are a beginner , but are wanting to make the most of your riding vacation, on your way to making the horse world a significant part of your life, then by all means, find the time and means to ride. Take some lessons, listen and learn, and most importantly, swing your leg over that horses back, and get your riding time in. There's no substitute for riding time, period! You'll be more confident when you get to our place and your body will feel better each evening after a day in the saddle at Bear Creek. And, of no small import, I promise you your horse will thank you. Your seat and posture will feel right to your horse and in fact you will be " lighter" in the saddle. That's the beginning of the journey. At the end of a day out here, when all is said and done, and we've put in a full day, you won't mind being tired. Your horse will be as well. But you don't want to be sore in the wrong places and you don't want your horse to be either. Preparation will go a long way towards making your trip a joy and I promise you your horse shares those thoughts!
